Wood-Crafting Plans, Arts & Crafts Style Singer Featherweight Sewing Table Pattern by Jane E. Ogborn

Traveling with your Featherweight?  Need something with a simple profile to keep set up for sewing anytime?  Do it in style with an Arts & Crafts style table that disassembles easily. This is a full size printed paper woodworking pattern and plans for a sewing table designed specifically to fit an original black or tan Featherweight 221. The pattern has been updated to include dotted lines for the School Bell and the White 221k short bed model Featherweights.

  • For the earliest schoolbell bobbin winder bracket, a notch will need personally styled with your woodworker for proper placement.
  • A 222 Featherweight does sit about 3/8" higher than a 221 model, but the perimeter measurements are identical.  So, while a 221 will sit perfectly flush with the table surface, a 222 model will sit just a teensy bit above the surface (similar to how a 222 fits in an original Featherweight table compared to a 221).
  • Table disassembles flat and the hinged sections fold, making it fit easily into automobiles, RV's, and boats (see photo above with pieces disassembled).

Height: 28.75"
Width: 38"
Depth (table top): 18"
Depth on the floor: 20" (The legs stick out farther than the top)
Weight: varies depending on the wood choice you make, but the designer made hers with quarter-sawn white oak and it weighs 32 pounds.

Woodworking plans and instructions are printed on full scale paper for you to use in making your own table using a wood and stain of your choice.  Be sure to watch the video under the video tab.

*Seven (7) 180 degree sewing machine table hinges (not included) are required if hinges are to be on the viewable/outside surfaces.  They can be purchased from your local hardware store or online hardware, woodworking retailer. Standard hinges can be used if you prefer to install them on the underside/inside surfaces of the table. (No hinges are required if you prefer to keep you table set up or folding is not necessary.)

There are many different tools that can be used, depending on the skill set of the woodworker, but the following power tools were used by the Featherweight Table designer:

  1. Table Saw
  2. Band Saw
  3. Hand Held Jig Saw
  4. Drill
  5. Router / Router Table
  6. Spindle Sander
  7. Flat Bed Drum Sander

There is more than one way to cut wood, and your tool set may vary based on skill, but some woodworking experience is recommended.

For copyright reasons, this is not available as a pdf or download.

NOTE: We are only offering the table plans and making them available for individual customization. As it would be extremely costly for production as well as the shipping weight to carry and ship a quality crafted wood product, we are recommending that if you purchase the table plans and are unfamiliar with woodworking, that you contact a local craftsman for a customized construction. This will give you the personalized wood and stain (or even paint!) choices while also helping your local economy....and you won't have to worry about the shipping costs for something quite heavy.  We are so excited to see photos of these in a myriad of unique styles and colors by fellow Featherweight friends!  Be sure to send us pictures of your finished product!
