(<--- neat website showing some fun McCall activities... But don't stop there - visit here, here and here for more amazing photos of what you can expect from a lakeside resort town nestled against a backdrop of mountains and wildlife!)

Check-in: Monday, June 3rd, 2019 from 3:00pm - 4:30pm (mountain time).  This will give you time to arrive early enough to see the town, browse the shops, get acquainted with other Featherweight guests, make a Lori Holt design board with JK Quilts, and / or relax by the lake in downtown McCall.  After you check-in, you will have some free-time to get set up, visit one of the many great restaurants for dinner, and then meet back at the hotel no later than 6pm when the Featherweight fun begins!

Note:  This is a Featherweight Maintenance Workshop & Lori Holt Retreat and fees are configured per person as all inclusive (except where indicated). Because this is an actual retreat, attending the Maintenance or Quilting Workshops separately is not available.  In order to teach each class member the comprehensive material, while still addressing each participant’s individual machine and sewing level, space is limited.  Due to space limitations, all participants are required to have registration fees paid in advance.  Please limit one machine per person (read below for "Machine Requirements").

Machine Requirements:  Each guest is permitted to bring one Singer Featherweight 221 or 222K Sewing Machine for learning.  Machines that require actual repair will not be suitable for the Workshop day.  If you need assistance with Singer Featherweight repair, please contact Carmon Henry at (208) 880-8887 with questions ahead of time. It may be something simple that can be remedied on your machine, but if it is anything major, he can discuss and make arrangements with you prior to class.

    Maintenance Workshop:

Every well-made sewing machine, including the Singer Featherweight, can be maintained to run easily and to sew perfectly.  For easy running of the machine, a Featherweight must be clean, well-oiled and properly adjusted or serviced.  For perfect sewing, certain adjustments such as threading, tensions, and stitch formation must be correct.

This all day, comprehensive workshop teaches Featherweight owners how to service and maintain their own Singer Featherweight on a regular basis. These machines were engineered with simplicity in mind — not just for easy portability, but also designed so that owners could service and maintain their own little sewing machine themselves.

    Workshop Class members will learn:

    • Featherweight History
    • Oiling & Lubricating
    • Stitch Formation
    • Tension Adjustments
    • Hook Assembly Position
    • Needle & Thread Dynamics
    • Electrical Components
    • Cleaning & Polishing
    • Case Refurbishing
    • Attachment Identification
    • Troubleshooting
    • Q & A

Basic oiling is important, but proper care and servicing of the Featherweight requires much more. Carmon, the Featherweight Technician, will teach participants how to give their machines the standard service – regularly!  The Workshop more than pays for itself because you won’t have to pay for routine maintenance again!  (You’ll even learn how to get that worn-out-looking Featherweight Case looking beautiful again!)

Machine mechanical knowledge is not a prerequisite, so you needn’t worry about having maintenance experience.  Carmon's kind approach puts all students at ease as he gently guides each student through every step.

Singer Featherweight parts & supplies, attachments, accessories, tools (new & vintage original) are also available for purchase at the class.

Janalyn & Lori Holt, January 2018

Lori Holt will be teaching us her tips and tricks and masterful techniques that make creating her designs easy and fun. She’ll teach us how to use her unique tools to achieve the most beautiful results.

Lori will be teaching from her “Farm Girl Vintage” book filled with much loved patterns and designs. Her newest Farm Girl Vintage fabric line (to be released in December 2018) will be featured in the projects she’ll be teaching. To go along with the patterns in her Farm Girl book, Lori will be introducing some new Farm Girl blocks that have never been released until this retreat . And, as always, Lori will bring along a few “Surprises”!

You’ll go home with some darling Farm Girl Vintage projects for your home!

JK Quilts will be on hand with a complete “little” quilt shop!  Even now, they are already anxiously preparing your lovely bundle of fabrics from the new Farm Girl Vintage fabric line, which will be included as part of your retreat goody bag... but, the complete line of Farm Girl Vintage fabrics will be available for purchase at the retreat, of course, as well as a full line of Lori’s books, notions, tools, trims, thread and other quilty goodies. Come prepared to be tempted!

In fact, if there was anything you wanted to pre-order from their site directly now, they will have a 10% off coupon for any retreat guests who wish to reserve and have their orders delivered to the retreat (no shipping fees - yay!)  Contact JK Quilts directly for pre-ordering details.

Due to advance scheduling, traveling times, waiting lists and as a courtesy to our teachers, hosts and other retreat guests planning time, retreat fees are non-refundable and credits toward future classes are not eligible.  However, should an unforeseen circumstance arise, and you are not able to attend, you may transfer your registration to a friend or relative.
