Backing Yardage Requirements: 4 yards
Note: All fabric for our quilt was cut, sewn and quilted without pre-washing any fabric. Thus, all yardage requirements reflect and assume this (most patterns do). So, if you are one who likes to pre-wash all your fabric, before constructing your quilts, then you may need to purchase additional yardage to allow for shrinkage.
Well, isn't this just "Swell"?! It is so hard to believe, but ten years ago, Urban Chiks released their gorgeous floral fabric line called "Swell". It was so popular that it was collected, sold, traded, stashed and cherished by fabric collectors worldwide. (In fact, April still has some in her stashes of fabric favorites!) So, you can imagine the delight when we got a sneak peek of the similar but Christmas line of "Swell" fabric earlier this year. April immediately ordered the line knowing how collectible it would be again!.... (And, to be perfectly honest, she's been secretly petting it in the stock room ever since it arrived.)
Saving it for the right time, she decided to stash it away until the winter season was upon us, when we could make and offer these exclusive Christmas quilt kits using the easy "Blossom Fields" pattern by Nadra Ridgeway of Ellis & Higgs. Arlene, the Featherweight Shop's new fabric coordinator, assisted in making the quilt, and it was so simple that it came together in just a few days. Thus, it is entirely possible to cut, sew, quilt and bind this quilt kit to have for your first cup of hot cocoa for the season.... and just in time for when you bring out your Christmas decorations!
Note: There are a very, very limited number of kits available, so when they're gone - they're gone forever. Don't delay on getting your backing fabric either; you might even want to buy a couple of extra yards to collect (or pet in your fabric closet).
This quilt is very, very easy to piece together with each block forming what looks like a package tied up with a Christmas bow. It's a great way to feature a favorite fabric line with each "package" being wrapped in a different fabric print. The Santa Claus print is so jolly -- he resembles the old-fashioned 1930's, 40's and 50's vintage inspired storybooks.
