Powerful original 110v motor with a quiet, smooth stitch. This 221's decals are in very nice condition, and the machine has been given a grade 7+. There are some impressions on the clearcoat from things being stored on it for many years.
This machine was part of the first 10,000 Featherweights commissioned in the factory on October 3, 1933. Singer made several slight cosmetic changes throughout the production of the model 221 but this is generally what they looked like in the beginning. Some of the distinctives to the early Featherweights compared to the later models are: the non-numbered tension unit, the school bell bobbin winder tension bracket, the split base at the right side of the machine under the receptacle, and the slightly different style of bobbin case hook assembly. These features evolved over the next couple of years until the more common characteristics were developed.
