Wobbly Rubber Bed Cushion Feet

What do your bed cushions look like on the bottom of your Singer Featherweight 221 or 222K?  Are they hard and brittle or are they pressed flat and full of lint and hair?  Either one is an easy fix and will help your machine maintain stability on the table as well as properly absorbing vibrations whilst sewing.

This evening Carmon was working on a Featherweight…. when all of the sudden it was raining dried rubber all over the office. At first I thought it was dried mud flying everywhere. What he was actually doing was digging out the old, rotten, dried rubber bed cushions from an old Singer Featherweight. He said one of them was so badly melted into the machine that he couldn’t even see the original screw that holds each one on.  Not even WD40 could aid in removing them because the rubber was as brittle as broken glass.

Replacing Bed Cushions on a Singer Featherweight 221 or 222KBed Cushions that are flat, full of lint and hair (pretty gross, quite frankly!)

These Bed Cushions are hard, brittle and the machine slips and slides easily on tabletops.

New, soft and supple bed cushions will help your machine avoid slipping and absorb vibrations on your sewing surface.

Once Carmon was finished, the old Featherweight sat up nice and straight and tall with her new Bed Cushions – and now with no wobbliness on her feet.
