Product Details

Description

Easy ONE-TINY-DROP dispensing wand!  Sew-Retro Sewing Machine Oil works for any and all Sewing Machines ~ even Attachments (yes, some attachments need oiling, too!)  This particular oil is appropriate for most household and industrial sewing machines including but not limited to: Singer, Elna, Kenmore, White, New Home, Bernina, Janome, Pfaff, etc.

  • Use lure-lock cap for no-leak storage (twist-off & on)
  • Separate cap with long, tiny metal oil spout
  • Highly refined, low viscosity
  • It won't stain and washes clean
  • Use with vintage, modern, industrial, commercial, longarm, embroidery, and home sewing machines

Be sure to follow your machine's instruction manual for oiling. One drop all oiling points is all that is needed for every 8-hours of sewing.  It is also a good idea to give one tiny drop of oil to the bobbin case (two small rectangular holes behind the bobbin case) every time you change a bobbin or sit down to sew.

Your Sewing Machine Manual or Adjuster's Service Manual will illustrate all the oiling points* for your machine. Look under our tutorial and video tabs for a couple of tutorials for cleaning as well as oiling the machine:

* TAKE NOTE: DO NOT USE OIL in your Singer Motor. Your motor should only have motor lubricant and not oil.

Wash Testing Photos Below

We wanted to actually show the washing test, so we dripped oil on quilter's cotton fabric and then took a few photos after so many minutes and hours later.  Finally, we washed the same fabrics and took the last photo to prove it washes clean!

1. First drips

2. After a few minutes absorbing into fabric

3. Several hours later

4. Fabric after washing -- fabric is all clean!

Best oil for sewers

I've got a LOT of old sewing machines! My Grandmother's treadle Singer, my great-great-Aunt's White treadle machine, another treadle that I picked up for nothing at a flea market, a Nichii . . . and that's not counting the new plasticy machines! and I don't even sew! much (eye-roll) but needless to say I couldn't pass up the Singer 237 Fashion Mate at Goodwill for $7. :p

So, long story short I found myself in need of some good sewing oil, grease/lubricant and some spare parts to try to get some of these machines running again the next time the ADHD hyperfocus hits. :D

So happy I stumbled across the Featherweight Shop. Very pleased with my purchases and will most definitely be back to purchase some other odds n ends for my horde of ancient machines I'm sure!
