Your Dream Quilting Vacation Awaits
Overview
Join The Featherweight Shop team and fellow enthusiasts aboard the Celebrity Eclipse for a 9-night Southern Caribbean journey that perfectly balances island exploration with dedicated quilting time.
We sail from Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 11, and return to Fort Lauderdale on Monday, March 20. We will visit four Caribbean islands: St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Lucia, and St. Kitts. You’ll be sewing a laser precut quilt kit on your own dedicated Featherweight (both provided by The Featherweight Shop—no need to bring your own machine!) in our private sewing room. Enjoy uninterrupted quilting time during our four full days at sea, then feel free to use the four port days to explore the islands. You can sew as much or as little as you like; it’s your vacation.
Prefer different dates? We’re sailing a second Caribbean itinerary, March 20 – April 1, 2028.
Our Private Sewing Room at Sea
Our quilting sanctuary is a spacious, welcoming workspace set aside just for us for the entire sailing. You’ll have room to spread out, share ideas, and immerse yourself in the joy of stitching together.

Spaces to Gather Aboard

Half an acre of real, growing grass on the top deck. Bring a hand-sewing project, a blanket, and a cup of coffee, and stitch in the open air with nothing but sea on every side.

Floor-to-ceiling windows high at the front of the ship, with sweeping views by day and music and dancing by evening. A lovely spot for the group to gather as the sun goes down.

An adults-only, glass-roofed pool with cushioned loungers and a whirlpool, quiet enough to read in and warm enough for a swim whatever the weather is doing outside.

Grand Foyer, Café al Bacio & the Martini Bar
The heart of the ship. Meet fellow quilters for an espresso and pastry at Café al Bacio, or gather at the ice-topped Martini Bar before dinner.

The main pool deck with two pools, whirlpools, and rows of deck chairs for the hours between sewing sessions. Sea days are long and unhurried, which is rather the point.

A full-service spa with a thermal suite of aromatic steam rooms, saunas, and heated loungers. Lovely after a long morning at the machine. (Spa treatments are not included in the package.)

A well-equipped fitness center and complimentary wellness classes to keep you energized for quilting.

Dining Aboard
Every meal in the main dining room and the casual venues is included, from an early breakfast before a port call to a long dinner with the group on a sea day. Specialty restaurants are available for an additional charge if you’d like a change.

The ship’s grand two-level main dining room, where our group gathers each evening. A menu that changes nightly, attentive service, and the same table of quilting friends to come back to.

The casual buffet high on the ship, with indoor and open-air seating. Breakfast before an early port call, a quick lunch between blocks, or a late bite after the show.

Italian steakhouse fare at the stern, with wide windows over the wake. (Specialty dining, additional charge.)

Classic French dining with tableside touches, for a special night out with friends. (Specialty dining, additional charge.)

A playful dinner where animated chefs cook on your plate before the real course arrives. Great fun for a group table. (Specialty dining, additional charge.)

Fresh sushi, ramen, and Japanese small plates. (Specialty dining, additional charge.)

Ports & Itinerary
Four port days on this sailing, every one of them a walk-off pier, no tenders. Shore excursions are booked directly with Celebrity or on your own; The Featherweight Shop doesn’t handle individual bookings, but we’re glad to point you toward what’s nearby.

Half Dutch, half French, and all island. Philipsburg’s Front Street runs along a mile of soft white sand at Great Bay, lined with shops and open-air cafés just steps from the water. It’s one of the easiest ports in the Caribbean to enjoy on foot: a short walk or a five-minute water taxi from the pier puts you in the middle of town.
Explore Front Street and the boardwalk, watch the jets skim in over Maho Beach, or cross to the French side for Marigot’s market and Orient Bay. Quilters, take note: A Stitch at a Time, a genuine quilt and fabric shop, is on the island.

Antigua claims 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, and its capital welcomes you with pastel warehouses turned boutiques along Redcliffe Quay, a few minutes’ walk from the ship. Flat, walkable, and easy to take at your own pace.
Browse Redcliffe and Heritage Quay, visit St. John’s Cathedral, take a drive to Nelson’s Dockyard at English Harbour, or spend the afternoon at Dickenson Bay, the closest beach to port.

St. Lucia rises green and dramatic behind the harbor, an island known as much for its rainforest and twin volcanic Pitons as for its beaches. The Pointe Seraphine shops sit right at the terminal, and a short drive brings some of the most photographed scenery in the Caribbean.
Visit the Pitons and the sulphur springs near Soufrière, stroll Castries Central Market, or shop for hand-printed batik and madras. St. Lucia is batik country, and Caribelle Batik’s handcrafted prints are a lovely souvenir.

St. Kitts is a Caribbean treasure where British colonial heritage meets lush rainforest and volcanic peaks rise dramatically from impossibly blue waters. Explore the magnificent Brimstone Hill Fortress—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—or experience the delightful St. Kitts Scenic Railway, the last railway in the West Indies, as it winds through sugar cane fields and charming villages.
Port Zante opens straight onto the compact capital, and the Amina Craft Market near the pier is the place for local batik and embroidery.

FAQ
Hardly a thing! A Featherweight is serviced and ready for you, your station is set, and the sewing supplies are all provided—so you can travel light and arrive ready to sew.
Pack for the Caribbean more than for the sewing room: lightweight, breathable clothing for warm, sunny days, a swimsuit for the pools and beaches, comfortable walking shoes for port days, a hat, sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen, and a light layer for air-conditioned spaces and breezy evenings on deck.
If you have a favorite ¼" presser foot or seam guide, tuck it in. A few quilters also like to bring a pattern or book stand, a tabletop sewing light, or a “cushy for your tushy” for long, happy sewing sessions. Quart or sandwich-sized zip bags are handy for pieces, and a little hand sewing or a good book is lovely for sea days on deck. Everything we provide is listed just below.
Everything you need, waiting at your table:
- Featherweight machine, perfectly serviced and ready to sew
- Thread snips and rotary cutter
- Cutting mat and pressing mat
- Mini iron (dry irons only in the sewing room)
- Pins and seam ripper
- Machine needles
- Neutral thread and prewound bobbins
- Selection of ¼" presser feet & seam guides (feel free to bring your favorite, if you prefer!)
- Thread stand or thread post
We’d love to say yes, but TSA and Celebrity Cruises require pre-approval for all sharps and heating tools—items brought personally may be confiscated at security. That’s why we bring everything for you! Bring small fabric markers and zip bags, and leave the cutting tools, irons, needles, oil, and screwdrivers to us.
Leave your beautiful, treasured Featherweight at home where it’s safe and sound. Every machine on board is provided for you, fully serviced by The Featherweight Shop and ready for smooth sewing all week. Have questions about the machine you keep at home? Write them down before you come—Carmon and Christian will answer them one-on-one, so you can take notes to refer to after your trip. You can also watch the free tutorials anytime in the Featherweight Schoolhouse, at your own pace.
Shared around the sewing room, with our team close by if anything needs a tweak:
- Sewing machine needles
- Sew-Retro oil & grease
- Wera maintenance screwdrivers
- Bobbin tension meters
- Larger cutting stations and full-size irons to share
If you plan to sew the exclusive quilt kit we provide, it is precut and ready to sew—no need to prep! But if you’re bringing your own project, we strongly recommend that you cut your fabric ahead of time so you can start sewing the moment you sit down.
Our exclusive laser-cut quilt kit, designed for this sailing and ready to piece as soon as you’re settled. Prefer to work on something different? Bring it fully prepped and cut, and you’ll be stitching right along beside your new quilty friends.
There’s no pop-up shop to browse—we pack everything you’ll need. We’ll send a list of the supplies used on the cruise so you can browse the website beforehand, add anything for your machine to your cart, and have the package waiting when you get home. That leaves more room in your suitcase for Featherweight swag and island souvenirs.
Quilting-grade fabric is scarce across the Caribbean and tends to cost more than at home, so treat the fabric shops in port as a happy detour rather than a stocking-up trip.
Our private sewing room is open throughout the sailing, on sea days and port days alike. Sew whenever you feel inspired!
There’s so much to do! Non-sewing companions can enjoy:
- The pools, whirlpools, and the adults-only Solarium
- The Lawn Club and the open decks
- Spa treatments and the thermal suite (available at additional cost)
- The fitness center and wellness classes (included)
- Live shows in the theater, music in the lounges, and the casino
- Every port day, on their own or with the group
- Meet & Greet: Everyone is welcome at our first evening reception!
Of course! Companions register as guests at the companion rate ($500 less than the quilter rate), share your stateroom, and enjoy everything the ship offers. They’re welcome at all our group activities and can visit you in the sewing room, too—just being mindful not to disturb fellow quilters. See For Non-Quilting Companions under Pricing for the details.
Connect with potential roommates who share your passion! Check your local quilt guild or join our Featherweight Facebook group to meet fellow quilting enthusiasts.
Prefer a stateroom to yourself? Single occupancy is Veranda $6,295 · Concierge Class $6,595. Choose “Stateroom to myself” when you reserve.
Booking separately from your roommate? Each of you chooses “Sharing with a roommate” and enters the other’s name when you reserve, and we’ll room you together.
That’s wonderful you are coming with friends—cruises are better together! Traveling with one quilting friend? Just let us know when you reserve, and the two of you will be seated together. Bringing a larger group? Tell us who’s coming and we’ll do our best to seat everyone together in the sewing room and at dinner.
Celebrity offers accessible staterooms and public areas throughout the ship, and every port on this itinerary is a walk-off pier, no tenders. If you require an accessible stateroom, let us know at time of booking, as well as who is being registered as your traveling companion to accompany and assist you during the cruise.
Yes. Celebrity accommodates gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, and most allergy needs in the main dining room; let us know when you reserve so we can note it on your booking, and your waiter will walk you through the options at each meal.
Yes, yes, and yes! Your package includes the Classic Beverage Package, basic WiFi internet access, and all gratuities and tips.
Heads up: the included WiFi is Celebrity’s basic tier—see the WiFi question below for what it actually supports.
Your package includes Celebrity’s basic WiFi tier. It’s intended for minimal texting and occasional email checks—and even that can be sketchy.
It will NOT support: streaming, video calls (FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp), WiFi calling, downloads, or typical web browsing on your phone (Instagram, YouTube, regular websites).
Plan to be mostly unplugged. For reliable internet, upgrade to premium WiFi directly through Celebrity when you board.
Fly into Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL), about ten minutes from the cruise terminal at Port Everglades. Miami (MIA) is about 45 minutes away. Airfare and transfers aren’t included in your package. Plan to arrive at least one day early—two or more if you’re crossing the country—and stay near the port, so a delayed flight can’t cost you the sailing.
We recommend arriving one to two days ahead—at least one, and two or more if you’re traveling across the country. Between flight changes, cancelled layovers, and airport transfers, a little extra time is the wise plan, because the ship won’t wait. We sail on Saturday, March 11, 2028. Celebrity assigns each guest a boarding time at online check-in, about 45 days before sailing, and boarding closes hours before the ship leaves port.
We return to Fort Lauderdale at 7:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2028. Book a return flight no earlier than late morning to allow for disembarkation.
A valid passport is the simplest way to travel and is strongly recommended for every guest; some ports on this itinerary require it. Each guest is responsible for their own travel documents. Requirements are set by the cruise line and the countries we visit, so confirm yours well ahead of sailing.
The ship has a medical center staffed by a physician and nurses, available for everyday needs and emergencies at sea. Travel insurance that covers medical care and trip interruption is a good idea for any cruise, and we recommend it.
Tap Reserve Your Spot below and put down your $500 deposit per person—$100 of it non-refundable—and your place is held. Traveling with someone? Add their name when you reserve. If your roommate is registering separately, choose “Sharing with a roommate” and enter their name so we can put you together. You’ll also tell us whether you’re a quilter or a non-quilting companion, which stateroom category you’d like, whether you prefer one bed or two, and your date of birth (plus your roommate’s and any companions’).
Your $500 deposit holds your place when you reserve. There is no second payment; the balance is due September 30, 2027, and we’ll send a reminder ahead of the date. The full schedule is in the Terms & Conditions below.
Each guest must register separately and pay his or her own deposit. That keeps everyone’s reservation and stateroom on record under the right name.
No—Featherweight Sewciety Rewards points, discount codes, and gift cards aren’t eligible for Featherweight Shop event fees, including the Featherweights Afloat deposit and reservation.
It’s for your payment, not your mail. Card processing uses your billing and shipping address to verify the card securely—nothing for the cruise is mailed to you.
Reserve Your Spot
Reserve your spot today with a $500 deposit per guest (only $100 non‑refundable) for our March 11–20, 2028 Caribbean sailing.

Review what Celebrity’s CruiseCare includes: Celebrity CruiseCare travel protection.
Choose Yes or No under Travel insurance when you reserve. It isn’t charged with your deposit; we’ll bill it separately. Roommates must select the same option.
Each guest is responsible for having all required documentation. A valid passport is strongly recommended for all guests and is required for international travelers; all guests assume full responsibility for confirming passport, visa, vaccination, and other entry requirements, and the safety and security conditions of the ports we visit. The Featherweight Shop has no control over taxes and port fees; should they increase, your invoice will reflect the increase.
The Featherweight Shop takes your privacy seriously and will be responsible with your contact information. It will never be sold, traded, or given away, and is provided only to the cruise line or travel supplier as required for reservation purposes.
By registering, you consent to The Featherweight Shop photographing and filming during the event, and to our use of photos and videos that may include you in our marketing.
The Featherweight Shop acts solely as a general booking agent on behalf of each customer for the purpose of processing reservations with travel suppliers. The Featherweight Shop has no control over the cruise line or travel suppliers, the fares charged for their services, their policies and procedures, changes in itineraries, the scheduling of their services, or their methods of providing services; therefore, The Featherweight Shop shall not be liable or responsible, and is released of responsibility and liability, for any delay, inconvenience, loss, or damage—for personal or property injury—to any guest resulting from a breach of contract or any acts or omissions on the part of any travel supplier, cancellation of any service by a travel supplier, any refund due from a travel supplier, any terrorist activities, civil or labor unrest, mechanical or construction defects or failures, diseases, local laws, climatic conditions, or any other cause or act of God.
