These are the Featherweight screwdrivers everyone has been talking about since our Singer Featherweight Maintenance Workshop Tour of 2016.
From Germany, the Wera is, by far, the best screwdriver we have found for use on the Singer Featherweight—even better than any gun-smithing tool set. (We have tried many, and most tips bend, break, or strip the screw.) The secret is in the superior manufacturing, the composition, and the proportionately long shaft. The handles are molded to fit your hand perfectly, corresponding to the muscles in your fingers so you get a better grip and can apply more strength.
Here's the clever part: when you loosen a screw, the torque naturally goes to the point of least resistance—usually the very tip of the screwdriver or the head of the screw itself. With the Wera, the extra-long shaft absorbs that torque and keeps twisting like a giant spring until the screw breaks loose. Don't be surprised if you hear a satisfying little "snap" as your screwdriver makes that first turn of a hard-to-remove screw! They are especially useful for screws that have been stuck for years, varnished with old oil and grease.

When we taught our Singer Featherweight Maintenance Classes, Christian and I always went from student to student, helping each person loosen the screws on their machines. After we switched to the Wera Screwdrivers, that became a rarity—most participants could tackle those screws without any assistance, even those with arthritis or weak wrists. We hear lots of good "snaps" in our Workshops now!
The Three Screwdrivers in Your Set

The long-shafted screwdriver—perfect for the hook assembly shaft screws, spool pin cover plate screw, needle plate screws, and countless other very-difficult-to-remove screws. The tip is magnetized, so you never lose a screw inside the machine.

The smaller screwdriver—perfect for the gib hook screw, all three bobbin case screws (including that very tiny latch screw), the motor pulley screw, and most other small screws on the Featherweight. The top of the handle spins, allowing easy one-hand operation as you rest your palm on the spinner while unscrewing—and this tip is magnetized, too.

The safety screwdriver—perfect for the motor mount screw (see photo). It's specially wrapped in the manufacturing process with an electrically safe rubber coating, which also protects the finish of the machine's harp where the shaft rests when you reach back to adjust the motor height. The laser-engraved tip grips the head of the screw for easier turning, and it works exceptionally well for the bed extension and bobbin winder screws.
We have found these screwdrivers are helpful for some attachments as well.
