Description

Be sure to watch the video, under the video tab, for lubricant comparisons.

SEW-RETRO GreaseTM Motor & Gear Lubricant!  We have also updated our Featherweight Shop Motor & Gear Lubricant video tutorial with a "Part 2".  It reflects the Sew-Retro Grease brand as well as illustrates an additional melting point comparison!  As before, SEW-RETRO GreaseTM has been specially formulated with the proper melting point and lubricating qualities for vintage & antique sewing machines, including the Singer Featherweight 221 & 222K.  Remember, some attachments need grease occasionally, too!  SEW-RETRO GreaseTM is appropriate for any and all sewing machines with all-metal gears. (Do not use this lube with any plastic or nylon gears.)

We are often asked if SEW-RETRO GreaseTM is appropriate for other vintage Singer Sewing Machine motors -- and the answer is yes - so long as your vintage Singer motor has motor ports with a felt wick inside.  If you are unsure of this, then if your manual indicates that your vintage Singer motor requires motor lubricant, then SEW-RETRO GreaseTM will be perfectly suited for your machine.

Each SEW-RETRO GreaseTM comes with an instruction sheet for application as well as a port-cleaning tool so you can clean out the motor ports of the old grease.  You can also use a Q-tip or hollow cotton swab (with both cotton swab ends cut off) as a replacement port-cleaning tool.

Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for how SEW-RETRO GreaseTM low-melting point motor & gear lubricant is the only one on the market that is appropriate for vintage and antique sewing machine motors, including Singer Featherweight 221 and 222K motors.

Most all Featherweight motors* have two little holes - one for each motor port.  Push a pea-size amount of SEW-RETRO GreaseTM into each port. As the motor heats up during use it will wick the SEW-RETRO GreaseTM into the motor as needed.  Application twice a year is usually adequate unless you sew day-in and day-out and / or do any free-motion quilting, then you will need to lubricate your motor about once a quarter or as often as needed.  Click here for the safety data sheet info.

(*Most White Featherweight machines do not require motor lubricant for the motor. You will know if your White Featherweight takes motor lubricant because it will have the motor lubricant ports on the motor itself.)

Be sure to read the tutorial on how and where to lubricate your Singer Featherweight

TAKE NOTE:  DO NOT USE OIL in your Singer Motor. Your motor should only have SEW-RETRO GreaseTM and not oil.

Thread Jam Removal Tool

What a brilliant little item! My Featherweight was so jammed up, I could not get it to move. So I ordered this cool tool, and it worked like a charm. So easy! Thanks for coming up with this brilliant fix.

Grease for vintage sewing machine

I have a 221 featherweight that I had just acquired and I couldn't get it run. I oiled it and cleaned it throughly. It just wouldn't sew. There were no tiny threads hiding anywhere. I purchased the grease from the Featherweight shop then procedure to grease it. I used the tiny straws to extract the old grease as per instructions and then replaced with the new grease. Miracles of miracles the machine runs and purrs as a kitten. Thank you Featherweight for the excellent products you sell.

Works Great

I bought this to use on my sewing machine. The foot lever was very hard to lift up and down. This worked great and my arm isn't sore after a day of sewing.
