I expected more of a shine. a bit disappointed actually. Not sure the cleaner was able to loosen all the built on dirt . like area around the on off button, places hard to reach

I am so glad that your site is dedicated to knowing your machine and not just featherweights. While at a sewing retreat I took my dinner napkin to wipe away all the fabric fibers on it and what a mistake. My machine had a hazy smear on it that the more I wiped the surface it got worse. One of my friends tried to help and we used chemicals you have stated not to use. Once I noticed that we were making it worse I went to your site only to discover that I may have just ruined my machine. So at that point I made the purchase of your clean and shine kit. Thank you, your kit saved my wonderful little black featherweight. Everyone that owns a featherweight should know how to preserve the finish and yes all those little scratches are part of its history but my machine has its wonderful shine back!

I recently bought a 1952 featherweight that had been stored in the case for quite a while. It looked to be in very good shape with hardly any scratches but I knew it still needed some serious cleaning in the crevices and I wanted to protect the finish. I started by dismantling as much as I was comfortable with while servicing the machine including removing the motor. That way I would be able to get all of the dust build up cleaned out of the hard to reach areas. I used the area under the motor as my inconspicuous place to practice and I am glad I did. The finish while hardly chipped was very delicate and I wound up having to trim my nails down very far so that I would stop accidentally chipping the clear coat. Once I had trimmed my nails and figured out how much pressure was too much I was much more comfortable starting on the bed of the machine. The cleaning paste works so well and rather than rubbing with more force I found that being gentle and wiping up what I had used and then applying more cleaning paste again with a different part of the t shirt I was using as a rag was the best method to get any stubborn old caked dust off. The shine formula works wonders and my machine now looks amazing. There is definitely a learning curve and you have to be careful about your pressure but the product works wonderfully
