SHOP TALK: Spring Has Sprung

fun

Welcome back to Shop Talk here at The Featherweight Shop! We love our local chit chat with staff, gathering around the dinette table so-to-speak (because that is what we have!) and sharing with one another. In these segments, we exchange patterns, recipes, organizational ideas, history quips, gardening tips, crafty projects, and smiles about learning an old-fashioned way of doing things. Shop Talk is the fun tidbits of news!

We are in the middle of spring, and it's the ideal time for planning a garden! Since the inception of Victory Gardens, also known as War Gardens, planning out the perfect mix of vegetables to help supplement their rations has been instrumental. Schools would have gardens on their grounds to enhance the school lunch programs, homes without yards would plant window boxes full of vegetables.

The U.S. Government printed out recipes detailing how to prepare easily grown vegetables produced from the Victory Gardens! So what was the first step? Planning out the garden, what vegetables to plant, where to plant them, and how to prepare the soil!

If you are starting out your very own Victory Garden, we found a beautiful FREE Printable Garden Planner, to help get you started planning out your first steps.
