Singer Featherweight Facebook Group

Singer Featherweight Facebook Group

If you are new to the Featherweight Shop, we also have a very active Facebook group forum.  We would be delighted to have you join us!

Below you will find information about our group as well as the etiquette for participation.  Be sure to read through to the bottom of this page and agree to the group decorum before requesting membership.

Decorum, Etiquette & General Guidelines

The Singer Featherweight 221 & 222 Sewing Machines facebook group is for collectors, quilters and sewists who use and enjoy their Singer Featherweight 221 & 222K machine(s).  It was also started for those who need technical support with their machine from fellow owners of the Featherweight community as well as by us as we occasionally peek in from time to time to answer questions and give assistance.

Singer Featherweight Schoolhouse

As you know, the Singer Featherweight group is owned and operated by The Featherweight Shop, and The Featherweight Schoolhouse is referenced and linked frequently - featuring historical data, dating charts, maintenance and video tutorials, resources, manuals to download, attachments and many, many pages to learn about your Singer Featherweight 221 or 222K.  We handle a lot of troubleshooting, service and maintenance questions, but if you ever need one-on-one assistance, feel free to contact us directly. We take technical calls and answer emails nearly every day and enjoy making the connection of a group member with a voice and would be happy to help you, too.

Group Topics:  Anything related to Singer Featherweights and their Attachments, Parts, and Accessories, but please keep the conversation limited to the vintage Singer Featherweight 221 and 222 only.  (By the way, we love seeing the things you sew and make on your Singer Featherweight! 😊)

Etiquette:  We began this group many years ago and it is a wonderful means of communication with our existing clientele, assisting with machine troubleshooting, offering maintenance and service classes, highlighting new products, etc.  We enjoy participating and getting to know new members as they begin learning about their machines.  We do ask that you please be respectful of our Featherweight Shop business and the polite conversations that take place.  In other words, promoting your own products, business or other products and businesses, facebook groups, pages, etc., without prior approval, is against group etiquette.  Our paid personnel spend several hours a day managing and moderating this Featherweight group and we find that it is just not feasible to sort through others' sales and promotions.

Sales & Value:  Our group is more about service and camaraderie rather than a flea market. Similarly, posts with "make me an offer" or "I am thinking of selling" or “what is this worth?” or “what should I sell this for?” or "what is a reasonable price?" are declined and we would, therefore, direct you to question #2 on our FAQs page, where you can learn how to gauge value for your geographic area.

Links:  Links to eBay, Craigslist, Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, or any other sales venue require permission from the group moderators before being posted publicly.  Please contact us directly if you have a question about a particular or questionable Featherweight advertisement or item.

Spam:  Safety and quality content are very important to us and our fellow group members.  Therefore, spamming our group with inappropriate material, junk or joining with the sole purpose of promoting your business or product will result in a report to Facebook and/or any other action that is deemed necessary to keep our group safe and enjoyable.

Communication:  Mama always said to “Keep Sweet”, and so we try to maintain that same attitude in this group.  You may discuss and share respectfully with one another, but posts or comments with gossip, slander, blasphemy or expletive language (including implied acronyms) will be politely removed in order to keep the conversation gracious toward all members of the Featherweight community (including children) and even future prospective members.

Ephesians 4:29 -- Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us directly.

Enjoy the Singer Featherweight Group!

Kind Regards,
Carmon Henry
(Group Owner)
