BAG, Padded TRAVEL fits Singer Featherweight 221 & 222 - RED

This is beautifully made and the red pops with a Featherweight statement. I love it

The hard case for my newly acquired 221 revealed that she was holding on for dear life while I was cleaning her up. After many recommendations I went to FS in search of a replacement until I could give the original case a restore and purchased red, padded travel case.

***Fair warning, I’m very blunt in my review***
I was always taught quality over quantity, unfortunately manufacturing and capitalism these days doesn’t give two 💩 about quality.

The Good:

1. Overall it’s cute and it’s a decent red color and the embroidery work looks nice. I did go back and forth between red or black as I fear the red will get dirty if sat on the floor but YOLO.
2. My 221 fits well
3. The handles aren’t just attached at the sides, but run under the inner lining to provide extra support for the machine.
4. The foot peddle pouch is appreciated

The things that I wish were better:

1. The fabric quality of both the bag and cotton pouch. I don’t know which is worse. For the main bag I could forgive the cheap ripstop if the outer shell were better quality…I was expecting material a little closer to my hiking packs. The pouch cotton is rough and stiff, reminiscent of dollar store pouches. Not good if you have sensory issues.

2. Depending on how you’re traveling, the pockets are about as useless as **** on a boar.

A. The front and back pockets aren’t closed ended so things could potentially slide under to the bottom of the bag and under the machine.

B. They’re not big enough for me and having no closure means a risk of loosing things.

C. While I appreciate the thought with the mesh pouch for the water bottle, my hydroflask and 221 don’t get along well. My hydroflask also water boarded my work laptop a few years ago so I have trust issues with it.

Like an Edwardian arranged marriage made from necessity, I have chosen to keep the bag and make the best of the situation as it’s hard to find a Mr Darcy in a world of fast dopamine hits and AI.

While I store my machines in their cases I went out of town with one in its hard case and y'all's tote for the case. Just getting it in and out was a little difficult. being a touch bulky and all. We were in a small camping trailer. I've been looking at the travel totes for a while now and decided I need to give it a try. It worked perfectly the next time we went out of town. I had also purchased an extra accessory bag and let me tell you they worked like a charm. I could now organize my things much easier than what I did the time before. I was able to put both bags in the case on either side as well. (I made a small pillow case from a couple layers of left over flannel to tuck the pedal away) so the accessory bags were perfect for about everything else I needed. Doing that I made a little more padding on the sides of the machine. If y'all are wondering I didn't "stuff" the little bags making them bulgy.
So long story short they are perfect!

This carrying case is very well made. It is padded and has pockets to carry other things. Love it!
