Quarter Inch (1/4") Foot, Open-Toe - LOW
See Every Stitch as It Happens
When you need to see exactly where your needle meets the fabric, this is the foot you reach for. The wide-open toe gives you a clear view of the entire stitch path—making scant quarter-inch seams, half-square triangles, and fussy placement feel like precision instead of guesswork (see photos).
It works really, really well for paper piecing, too, because you can see the stitching lines so clearly all along the way.
Two Tips for Your Best Results
If you happen to have the Graduated Throat Plate, its 1/4" line leads your eye right to the edge of the foot for a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Otherwise, align your fabric seam allowance to the right edge of the foot, as shown in the photos.
Because of the openness of the toe, stitch a little slower as you come to the end of your stitching line and the edge of the fabric—that way the feed dogs guide the fabric straight all the way off the edge.

The video tutorial shows and compares all the different 1/4" feet that we carry.
