Laser-Cut and Ready to Sew

The precision laser-cut pieces are neatly stacked and ready to sew. Each block is in its own bag, so you can skip the sorting and get right to piecing!

What's in the Kit

• Pattern — Summer Picnic quilt pattern by Lori Holt, with diagrams and assembly steps for all twelve star blocks.
• Fabric pieces — Precut laser Americana fabric pieces, professionally prepared and ready to sew. Prints in red, cream, gold and aqua on a deep blue background.
• Binding — Enough fabric to complete the quilt top and the binding.
• Finished size — 78 1/2" x 98 1/2" (a generous bed quilt).
• Not included — Batting, so you can pick the loft that suits the bed this quilt lands on.
• Backing — Sold separately: Americana quilt backing (2½ yards of 108" wideback, or 5 yards of 58" Double Lush).
• Fabric collection — Lori Holt's Americana collection for Riley Blake Designs, if you want extra yardage to match.

Your Sewing Success Tips

• Treat yourself to a little counting session the day your box arrives to ensure none of the laser-cut pieces are missing. We do our best, but mistakes happen! Due to limited supplies, replacement fabric is available only within two weeks of purchase, so you'll want to know sooner than later whether you need any replacements.
• Your blocks arrive presorted, so skip the sorting and start with the reading: read Lori Holt's pattern and the instructions for your laser-cut pieces all the way through before your first seam.
• Sew one test star before you sew twelve, and check your quarter-inch seam. A thread wide either way will show up in the points, and you can correct that before sewing the rest.

Note: Like all denim, this soft-handed fine quilter’s denim will vary in color, markings, and even wear—depending on the warp and weft of each piece, how it’s cut, and how it’s sewn into the block. We hope you enjoy the vintage appeal of this lovely draped background fabric, as if you’d gathered up a variety of chambray denims from yesteryear. Your quilt will have old-fashioned styling already sewn right in!
