Designed especially for vintage sewing machines and modern spools of thread, the Thread Post converts your vertical spool pin into a horizontal thread delivery system. No more twisting and resisting! From spool to needle, thread will flow smoothly and evenly, providing better stitch formation.

Thread Post fits perfectly atop the Singer Featherweight 221, 222 plus any vintage Singer with a vintage, vertical spool pin on top of the machine (e.g. Singer 15, 66, 99, 127, 128, 185, 192 Spartan, 201, 237, 327, 328, 401, 500, and 503 - use far right pin on Slant-O-Matic & Rocketeer models).
Slide the tapered point of the Thread Post onto the machine's spool pin.
Place thread spool onto the horizontal pin and select the smallest size cap necessary for the thread spool top. (The large cap is included for thread spools with a very large center hole.)
Slide the cap onto the horizontal pin to secure the thread spool into position.
Place the small rubber tip (also included) on the upper thread guide and thread machine as usual.
Thread Post set includes: Horizonal Pin Post, Small Cap, Large Cap & Rubber Tip Tab
(Spool of thread is not included.)
Q: Is the little tab supposed to go all the way down on the upper thread guide?
A: Tabs are included "just in case you need them". If you experience thread jumping out of the upper guide, then place a little tab on the guide to keep thread secure. Some guides are positioned really close to the machine, others bent in or wide open. Because of this, the tab may or may not fit all the way down on the guide, but as long as it keeps the thread from jumping out, then it is working as intended.
Q: My thread post spins loosely on the spool pin causing the spool of thread to flip back and forth, what can I do?
A: Review the photos and video instructions to follow along, making sure the post is placed with pointed side down (like a fence post) on the spool pin. The Thread Post will remain snug on the spool pin if the point of the post is down rather than up.
Q: My thread twists and sometimes breaks after sewing a little bit, is there a fix?
A: Make sure you are following the directions to use the smallestcap needed to accommodate your spool size. Using too large of a cap can cause the thread to get caught and break. Also, make sure the bottom ring on the spool of Aurifil thread is removed. This bottom ring is designed to keep the thread from unraveling when stored, but it can impede the flow of thread during use. Removing the ring will help clear the thread's unwinding path. Additionally, sometimes just flipping the thread spool on the Thread Post to unwind on the opposite end can allow for smoother flow of thread as well.

I love sewing with Aurifil thread, but being. cross wound, it didn’t want to come off the spool standing up very well. This spool post does the trick and can stay on my machine even when packed.

Fixed my problem
My cross wound spool of threads didn't feed right and caused skipped stitches on my featherweight. I use this now and the problem went away! Great adapter!

Thread Post for Vintage Singer Sewing Machines
I know that this thread post is very highly rated. And it is of high quality. However it is more trouble to me than to just use a thread stand behind the machine. Fiddling around with the little spacers to get the spool situated is not for me. I'm not pooh poohing the thread post adapter, I just don't like using it. I do however like the little red plastic piece that goes on the upper thread guide. To those curious I bought this to use on my 99K.

The Featherweight Walking Foot is Perfect!
I have several other brand machines so I didn’t bother with a walking foot for my FW221. I finally got one so I wouldn’t have to switch over to quilt my quilt sandwich. I love it. Works smoothly, stitches are even and straight. So glad I got it!
