DIY Quilt at The Featherweight Shop ~ Part 1
Over the past few years, quilting has become my "highlight." I know that each time I sit down behind my daughter Sayley's Featherweight I will learn something new, humble myself when I think I have mastered a defined skill, or share a special moment with my kids working together on a project. Sewing has become a time to "turn off" the electronics and spend quality time alone reflecting or with family reminiscing and making new memories.
This brings me to one of my favorite lines, Miss Rosie's Cake Mix Patterns! These patterns are delightful to do alone or with the family. Each pattern comes with a set of printed papers that attach to two layers of fabric, right sides together, pinned, sewn, cut, and arranged into a block. We use layer cakes or our favorite yardage, depending on the mood.
I picked Miss Rosie's Cake Mix #9 for my next quilt project. It easily lays out four different star blocks and comes with printed papers for 42 completed blocks! What you do with those 42 blocks is completely up to you.
Have fun picking your colors and themes for your "Do It Yourself" Sew Along! I fell in love with Edyta Sitar's Blue Sky fabric line, so I will be making a blue and cream star quilt! Make sure to post your fabric combinations, questions, and progress in the comments!
Please note that I cut all of my fabric from yardage to create my dream vintage inspired blue and cream star quilt. I used the following "recipe" below!
