What's new in The Featherweight Shop Vintage Collection - October 2024
Here at the Featherweight Shop, we have quite the collection of vintage Singer items. Due to our remote location, very few customers have had the opportunity to see the many rare Singer items we have procured in our personal collection.
This series of blog posts brings our collection out for all to see the new items we receive. Some of these items may be famous and recognizable, but there may be other items that very few individuals have ever seen or heard of before. For the month of October 2024, here are some of our recent finds for your viewing pleasure:
This wrinkle finish metal attachment box came in its original paper box! These attachment sets feature several unique attachments that work on the Featherweight. Click here to see if we have any of these original attachment boxes for sale.
This gorgeous pictorial set of Singer advertisement cards depicts some highlights of the Great Lake cities. One card shows the large Singer store in Chicago; Singer signs are posted on the building all the way to its seventh floor!
This Singer souvenir pocket mirror is a great addition to our collection with vibrant original colors!
In our Singercraft Guide collection, we have three Blackside variants. The one on the left is the rarest guide with a Blackside finish, and it was found in the UK; it features the most common Singercraft design pattern/stamp. The middle one has a black rail and bell, and the letters are unpainted. The guide on the right is the most common Blackside variant with ivory lettering. Singercraft guides are a delight to collect with so many variations in existence. Click here to see if we have any rare variations available for sale.
This French motor lubricant tube is in fabulous condition adding to its collectability.
Also from France is this darling oil can. Originally, it contained Singer #1 oil. Click here to see if we have any rare Singer oil cans for sale for you to begin or add to a collection.
These employee badges are highly collectible, and we are pleased to have this one in our collection from an employee at Singer's Bridgeport Connecticut factory. Many of Singer's attachments were made at Bridgeport.
This Featherweight is one of 5,500 221K machines commissioned in 1958. This machine is in great condition, and we are thrilled to have it in our collection. Interestingly, this machine features a couple components indicating it was finished in Canada: it's motor, attachments box, and case (not pictured); however, the motor at some point was rewound to 220v revealing that it was eventually used in the UK or Europe. What a world traveler it has been - UK-CAN-UK-USA!
There are so many fun vintage Singer items here at the shop, and we are very excited to share our new finds with the Featherweight community. Stay tuned for next month!
Occasionally, we have an extra accessory, attachment, or collectible available for purchase in the shop. You, too, could begin your own Singer collection. Check out what's new in the Collector's Corner!
