We are very excited to add this lovely French 221K to the site along with a companion child's machine, a Singer model 20 with the coordinating French decal. Completely serviced, cleaned, polished, electrically inspected, timed, tuned and sampled - rest assured, this Featherweight 221 will be ready to sew right out of the case. This machine is fitted with its original 110v motor that has been rewound to work at optimum speed and torque.
You might be wondering, "what makes this a French Featherweight?" This machine comes with its original French manual, an original 110v motor with Alternate Power decal, and a very interesting French Decal on the back arm of the machine. This machine was manufactured in the UK but sold in France and has the French decal to indicate where the machine was produced.
And "what makes this a French Sewhandy model 20?" The child's machine was made in the USA; similar to the 221 it has a French decal its manufacturing origin. The text on the Sewhandy's box is in french as well.
Both of these machines are quite rare and unique installments for all Featherweight collections. EF9120** indicates an original production commission date of July 19th, 1950, and it is given a grade 8-. The Original Bobbin Case is included with the Featherweight, adhering to originality all these years later. Thes machines have been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so tension is already properly set; however, tension can easily be adjusted depending on fabric needs.
The 221K is fitted with an original scrolled faceplate and the original case includes the top tray for holding the attachments.
