FAQs
Q: Does The Featherweight Maintenance Workshop provide the same information as your free video tutorials on The Featherweight Schoolhouse?
A: Yes and no. The basic information found in short tutorials on the Featherweight Schoolhouse is similar to that in the Maintenance Workshop, but the Maintenance Workshop provides an expanded experience, just like the classes we have taught around the country over the years. You will learn alongside other students but in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. We also demonstrate that routine servicing is an easy process and not an arduous chore to be put off. The Featherweight Maintenance Workshop is the teaching tool you will want in your Featherweight library for years to come!
Q: The video indicates that it is only 1 hour 40 minutes in length, is this learning material the same as your in-person Featherweight Workshop?
A: Yes, the DVD or Streaming video is a complete professional production of one of our all-day Featherweight Maintenance classes with the exact same process and material covered. Our classes are attended by 30+ students from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is comprised of teaching, student / teacher interaction, breaks, etc. The video running time is 1 hour and 40 minutes, however, you can proceed and pause at your own pace as you apply the learning material to your machine. Unlike the in-person workshop, you won't have to wait for other participants downtime, or you can replay and spend more time learning an unfamiliar subject. Total machine-servicing time will depend on the condition of your Featherweight and your servicing experience.
NOTE: We hope you particularly enjoy watching one of our students perform her routine oiling in real-time. Any guesses how long it takes her? (Hint: Watch the clock, because it's faster than 100 minutes!)
Q: Does The Featherweight Workshop video include information for servicing the white Featherweight as well as the free-arm 222 Featherweight?
A: Yes, this workshop is applicable for all vintage Featherweight models - 221 as well as the free-arm 222.
Q: Is the Singer Featherweight Maintenance Handbook required to go with the video?
A: No, the handbook is not required, but we highly recommended using it as a companion just like the students in the workshop class. The handbook will also be an invaluable guide on its own whenever you want a quick refresher of the material. Moreover, your Featherweight servicing experience will increase as the handbook guides you in learning to troubleshoot problem machines.
Q: If I purchase the Streaming option for the Featherweight Maintenance Workshop Video, how do I access content for viewing?
A: After purchase, make sure you are logged in to your Featherweight Shop account, view your order history and click on the Tracking/Downloads link that is associated with the order number for your Featherweight Maintenance Workshop Streaming video. Follow the prompts to Access Digital Content and playback.
Q: Can I download the Streaming as a file and save it to my computer or USB drive for offline viewing?
A: The Streaming option for The Featherweight Workshop does require a good Wifi connection because it is only available as streaming. The file size is too comprehensive for downloadable access and unavailable for USB drive sharing. For offline learning, however, The Featherweight Workshop is available in DVD format.
Q: How long will I have access to the video if I purchase the Featherweight Maintenance Workshop in Streaming format?
A: You will have LIFETIME ACCESS! Watch it as many times as you like. However, if playback is left inactive for over one year, however, then access will automatically be disabled.
Q: Is this workshop available for group showings?
A: The Streaming Featherweight Maintenance Workshop is only synced with your account order history and login and is only permitted for group streaming with certain perimeters.
Group Streaming Permission Perimeters: If you wish to host a small group gathering for Featherweight Maintenance, then we will authorize group-streaming access provided that each person attending has purchased the streaming option on their own individual account prior to the gathering. This will ensure each participant has LIFETIME ACCESS* and can reference the material for his or her personal use after the event.

Quick View

I was torn between the DVD version and the streaming, but I'm sooooo glad I went with streaming. It's just so convenient to pull up on whatever device I have in my sewing room and if necessary, when I'm at retreats, which I really appreciate. I can follow along with my maintenance book as I maintain my machines. Great video with extra footage and tips. It nicely augments the book and chart and is easily accessible through my Featherweight Shop account. Great job! Thank you.
I've taken an in person Featherweight Maintenance class before (it was NOT by the The Featherweight Shop) and watched online classes for FW maintenance, but THIS ONE includes those 'special tips and tricks' that ONLY an EXPERT knows and the 'why 'that makes sense to doing things a certain way that I've either forgotten, no notes taken or I was never was told. And I can review this streaming video at my leisure and when I need to understand more. I am so glad to have these to Featherweight EXPERTS to explain to me the Featherweight Maintenance step by step or just a particular part in my home whenever I need it! The Maintenance and Service Manual is also great to have well defined and up close photos of the Featherweight in great detail!
Love the products and quick service.
This video is super helpful, and Cameron and Christian go slow enough that I didn't even need to pause very often like I expected to. I had already performed the entire maintenance once on my 2 FW's, but I still thought it would be nice to have for the periodic maintenance, and it sure was! Thank you for making this video for all of us who love owning a little piece of history. They are priceless little gems, and deserve to be taken care of!
