Thread-O-Stat, IRIDESCENT GREEN Featherweight Thread Grabber
Grab That Runaway Thread—and Don't Let Go
It isn't a matter of "if" a thread gets caught behind your bobbin case—it's "when." And when it happens, the Thread-O-Stat is the tool you'll reach for every time: it eases the frustration and gets you back to sewing in no time. (You'll impress your quilting friends, too!)
The all-metal Thread-O-Stat Thread Grabber has a smooth jaw, so thread is gripped tightly and securely as you clamp the handles together. A typical hemostat's toothed, jagged jaw actually prevents a firm grip—the Thread-O-Stat is more like tweezers, only better. Grab hold of that little thread as you take the proper steps to remove it, and the Thread-O-Stat won't let go.
It's an all-around handy tool for the sewing room, too—removing paper from the back of paper-piecing projects, turning things right side out, or grabbing anything in a tight spot.
Open and Lock
To open: it will feel counterintuitive, but squeeze the handles together and give a slight twist so the locking teeth unlock.
To lock: squeeze the locking teeth together without any twist.
This one wears a happy iridescent green, with a little Featherweight stamped on the side—so you won't have to worry about it getting "lost" in hubby's toolbox. (Please note: each Thread-O-Stat has unique variations of color due to the nature of the paint.)
Be sure to watch Carmon's video under the video tab—he shows how a stitch is formed and demonstrates the Thread-O-Stat in action.
