Put a New Heart in Your Featherweight
Is your Featherweight struggling? Her motor has worked faithfully for decades, but a vintage Featherweight is like a car with 200,000 miles on it. And you couldn't buy rewound motors anywhere… until now.
Meet the Featherweight Tru-Wound Motor: an original Singer motor, rewound with new copper—so your Featherweight runs like new again. Tested and ready to install.
The Hardest-Working Part You've Never Seen
Why a rewound motor? Because here's the thing about Featherweight motors: tucked inside your machine's little black housing is the armature: the core of the motor, wrapped in fine copper wire. This is the part that wears out. Decades of diligent sewing is hard on that copper wire!
The enamel that insulates the wire grows brittle, heat wears it down, and the motor gives up a little power at a time. Then one day you press the pedal to the floor, and your Featherweight noticeably struggles to keep up. It's not your technique—it's just tired old copper.
Give Your Featherweight Another Century
No more making do with a weary motor. No settling for a non-original replacement, either. When you buy the Tru-Wound motor, you're buying an original Singer motor that we've rewound ourselves. We stripped every inch of old copper wire off the armature, and wound new copper wire by hand, coil by coil. Then we balanced the motor (even the factory line didn't do this consistently) and tested it on a real Featherweight. Just listen to her hum!

Winding a Featherweight motor is something of a lost art. The knowledge died with the people who once did it in Singer's own factories, and it took us the better part of ten years to work it out again. To this day, we're the only Featherweight shop that rewinds motors.
