Happy 4th of July!
This past year (or more) I have slowly been working on quilts that reflect the time of year or season. I finished a Lori Holt Christmas quilt in January and a Valentine's pillow for February as well as a Valentine quilt this spring (photos to come later).
Well, this "Stars & Stripes" patriotic quilt kit I got from Craftsy some time ago has been several months in the making, yet I am still working on it piece-by-piece... and now block-by-block! I was so excited to have finished the 120 red & white blocks and now I only have 48 of the 64 star blocks left.
Here are a few photos and tips that you may find helpful as well....
Pinning the seam on either side will help your block stay exactly in place for point matching.
I like to sew just barely outside the diagonal drawn line so that when I press my seam over it ends up being a perfectly square rectangle patch.
Seams pressed over -- that scant seaming ended up working out perfectly!
Remnant triangles trimmed off and sewn to create another block for fun! I ended up passing these on to Rebekah, our employee, who has done wonders with creating fun block designs!
I will probably be sewing more over the holiday, but I wanted to wish you all a very Happy 4th of July! Have you made any Holiday or seasonal quilts? If so, do you have a favorite Holiday quilt? Feel free to post photos in the comments below... I so enjoy seeing all the seasonal quilts - they're so much fun to decorate with!
