What's new in The Featherweight Shop Vintage Collection - August 2025

historical

Here at the Featherweight Shop, we have quite the collection of vintage Singer items. Due to our remote location, very few customers have the opportunity to see the many rare Singer items we have procured in our personal collection.

This series of blog posts brings our collection out for all to see the new items we receive. Some of these items may be famous and recognizable, but there may be other items that very few individuals have ever seen or heard of before. For the month of August 2025, here are some of our recent finds for your viewing pleasure:

This Singer coin bank is particularly unique and rare as it has Singer's logo in Spanish and the 'M.R.' registration mark.

A pin cushion from France features a suction cup attachment configuration. This style pin cushion can be seen in some of Singer's advertisements for the French market.

This fascinating advertisement came to us recently from a fellow collector, and it shows the various hemstitching styles that can be accomplished using the Singer Hemstitcher.

Nearly 100 years old - this marvelous employee ID booklet came from Italy, and it reminds us of the reality of the Singer's worldwide, generational influence.

We are delighted to have this complete set of Singer souvenir cards featuring sailing vessels. The back of each card has a description of the schooner with an advertisement from Singer.

The Flange Hemmer! This is a hard-to-find attachment that has found a place among our collection of rare Singer attachments.

This influential book was used to instruct high school age students in the concepts of physics using principals demonstrated by the Sewing machine. Not surprisingly, Singer collaborated with the National Education Association and furthered established themselves as the most recognized Sewing machine brand in the world.

You can find this rotating calendar on Christian's desk here at the shop. It's a very unique Singer souvenir - all the way from Italy!

Our final feature for this month is a white Featherweight that we recently added to the collection. It is the earliest white Featherweight that has come through the shop; it has a serial number of EV7833**.
The original owner also included some history of the machine for us. She purchased this Featherweight at age 13 with a down payment of $10 that was gifted to her from her aunt. It is such a treasured machine in our collection!

There are so many fun vintage Singer items here at the shop, and we are very excited to share our new finds with the Featherweight community. Stay tuned for next month!

Occasionally, we have an extra accessory, attachment, or collectible available for purchase in the shop. You, too, could begin your own Singer collection. Check out what's new in the Collector's Corner!
