What's new in The Featherweight Shop Vintage Collection - March 2025

historical

Here at the Featherweight Shop, we have quite the collection of vintage Singer items. Due to our remote location, very few customers have the opportunity to see the many rare Singer items we have procured in our personal collection.

This series of blog posts brings our collection out for all to see the new items we receive. Some of these items may be famous and recognizable, but there may be other items that very few individuals have ever seen or heard of before. For the month of March 2025, here are some of our recent finds for your viewing pleasure:

This marvelous little book tells the story of The Singer Manufacturing Company's inception and rise to being a household name.

We were delighted to add this beautiful belt and Spanish Singer buckle to our collection!

Warm Taupe is one of the most common colors for the Singer Sewhandy 20-10, but the ones that were manufactured in the USA but sold in Canada and the UK have this rare, 'Made in U.S.A.' decal.

This grease tube contains four ounces of industrial Singer grease. We were excited to find this large tube. It is significantly bigger than a standard tube of Singer Motor Lubricant that came with the Featherweight.

This striking ashtray came from and was made in Italy!

This ornate souvenir book was sponsored by Singer and features early photos of London's cathedrals.

This Singer company stamp now in our collection is in beautiful condition!

The final installment in this month's post is the 25th Featherweight manufactured in Great Britain! It is in stunning condition and is a treasured feature in our machine collection. By the time Singer started manufacturing the 221 at their Kilbowie, Scotland, factory, the cosmetics and design of the featherweight were quite consistent from more than a decade of production in the USA. There aren't many unique manufacturing differences to a 221K produced this early, but one noticeable element is the placement of the light housing decal near the middle of the shade.

There are so many fun vintage Singer items here at the shop, and we are very excited to share our new finds with the Featherweight community. Stay tuned for next month!

Occasionally, we have an extra accessory, attachment, or collectible available for purchase in the shop. You, too, could begin your own Singer collection. Check out what's new in the Collector's Corner!
