What's New in The Featherweight Shop Vintage Collection - May 2024

historical

Here at the Featherweight Shop, we have quite the collection of vintage Singer items.  Due to our remote location, very few customers have had the opportunity to see the many rare Singer items we have procured in our personal collection.  This series of blog posts brings our collection out for all to see what new items we receive.  Some of these items may be famous and recognizable, but there may be other items that very few individuals have ever seen or heard of before.  For the month of May 2024, here are some of our recent finds for your viewing pleasure:

This medium sized enamel sign is a welcome addition to our Singer sign collection. This one doesn't say, 'sewing machines', so it could have been used in a variety of countries due to it not featuring a specific language.

This 1959 calendar from West Germany is adorable! There aren't any images featuring the Featherweight, but it is very detailed for its size.

We were overjoyed to obtain this Scripto mechanical pencil with the Singer logo in its original box!

This hand fan from 1896 is in remarkable condition. Nearly 130 years old!

These hammered green Singer Sewhandys were sold in France and are quite recognizable; however, a decal color variation can be found with those of the same paint color. For the exhaustive collections, it isn't enough to have just one hammered green Sewhandy!

'The Bartholdi Statue!' These facts about Singer's machines and the striking Statue of Liberty are fascinating to consider.

This blue attachments case is now in our collection. It is in fabulous condition. Click here to see if we have any original Singer attachments cases for sale.

Considering the blue attachments case shown above prompted me to examine the variety of original fashion-aids booklets we have in our library.

Last, but most certainly not least. This 1940 Wrinkle finish Featherweight found its way into our collection. It is in impeccable condition! Click here to read more about the fascinating Wrinkle paint finish.

There are so many fun vintage Singer items here at the shop, and we are very excited to share our new finds with the Featherweight community.  Stay tuned for next month!

Occasionally, we have an extra accessory, attachment or collectible available for purchase in the Shop.  You, too, could begin your own Singer collection - check out what's new in the Collector's Corner!
