Easy to clean and easy to polish!  Have you ever wondered how some Featherweight machines look polished and beautiful while others look dull or oily?  Watch the video tutorial below all the way through and learn how to take your average looking Featherweight and turn it into something beautifully reflective.  Cleaning attachments and the shiny parts of the machine are addressed as well.

How To Refurbish a Singer Featherweight Case

In this video tutorial, our young daughter, Ruthie, will show you all the restoration steps for how to clean, polish and refurbish/restore a Singer Featherweight case.  This process will work on all black Singer Featherweight cases. On our Singer Featherweight Maintenance Workshop Tour this past summer, she became known at each class as the one to teach this portion of our workshops.  Step-by-step, she will show you the process of bringing that old, worn-out-looking case to a new luster -- giving it new life again!   Towards the end of the video, she and I will also show you how...

How To Get Rid of the Moldy Mildew Smell in a Featherweight Case

The first thing to check is the felt drip pad underneath the machine. Unscrew the large nut on the bottom tray and if the felt drip pad is saturated with oil like the one shown above then it not only needs a new one, but it could be holding some of the musty odor being emitted by the case. Some restorations are easier than others, but we hope you will find inspiration from the Featherweight community and their creative...

How to Replace the Green Case Handle for a White Featherweight

If your green case handle is broken or missing and your green Singer Featherweight case is the style that would have had pins* holding the handle in place, then this tutorial will walk you through the easy process for replacing with a high quality, solid green replica.    **************************************************************** * NOTE: The green case handle that is pictured below, you'll notice, has molded stubs that rest inside each outer edge of the metal bracket.  It is not held on with pins like the tutorial above.  It is, unfortunately, but there simply is not a replacement case handle for this style...
