This incredibly rare and desirable Singer Featherweight 221 is absolutely stunning in gloss black with gold decals! Completely restored inside and out - this Featherweight 221 will be ready to sew or display right out of the case. What makes this Featherweight special?
The Chicago World's Fair held in 1933 and 1934 was an enormous event, attracting nearly 50,000,000 visitors. Singer sold machines at the fair and took the occasion to debut the new Featherweight sewing machines commissioned October 3rd, 1933. The machines sold at the Fair in 1934 had the recognizable, commemorative badge with a red ring. There are approximately 50 of these Featherweights known to exist making them extremely rare and collectable.
In addition to being a Chicago World's Fair Badged Featherweight, this is the 3,013th Featherweight produced. During these early stages of Featherweight production, Singer was still in the process of finalizing the cosmetics of the machine. A unique cosmetic feature of approximately the first 3,000 Featherweights is the additional decal on the back arm of the machine behind the motor.
This Featherweight first arrived to us in very poor condition, and because of its rarity and infamy, we made the decision to restore it back to gloss black. The choice to restore a sought-after machine like this one back to original black greatly increased its value and appeal as the traditional look has been maintained. We have taken care to preserve as many parts as possible in the restoration process; with extra care, we were able to retain and reuse the original brads that hold the badge in place! Each one of our restored and repainted Featherweights receives hours of personal care in its disassembly, painting process, reassembly, stitch sampling and overall preparation for each and every customer.
To guarantee the authenticity of this restoration, we took photos showing the machine, the badge and the serial number before restoration took place. To protect the future buyer, we have covered up the last number of the serial number in the photos, but the intricacies in the stamping of each other number can be identified in both the before and after photos.

The original type I case with original handle, 1933 manual, Chicago World's Fair Singercraft Guide, and fully restored metal foot controller are also included. Our case refurbishing method was used to bring a beautiful finish back to the original case. A type I case this beautiful is nearly as unique as the Chicago badged machine itself; at nearly 90 years old, this set is indeed a rarity.
The machine is fitted with an original 110-volt motor that has been rewound to work at optimum speed and torque.

Additional Quilting Attachments can be purchased, and if you need any Fashion Aids for apparel or ornamental sewing (e.g., Buttonholer, Blind Stitcher, etc...), we will prepare samples for those as well should you decide to purchase them separately.
The Original Bobbin Case is included, adhering to originality all these years later. The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so tension is already properly set; however, tension can easily be adjusted depending on fabric needs.
The machine is fitted with an original scrolled faceplate and an original, yet newly rechromed needle plate. The original case includes the top tray for holding the foot controller and some attachments.
