Shop Talk: A Simple Guide to Quilt Batting with Jamie

When I first started quilting, I really didn’t know much about batting. I had just finished the top of my very first quilt and was excited to set out to purchase what was needed for the inner layer. Shop Talk: Fabric Nook Organization Continues...

The shelves of solids have been more of an annoyance to me than anything over the past two or three years.  There are times one needs a solid for this small project or that small project, but generally, solids are needed in quilts as backgrounds or binding.  This takes more yardage than what I mostly have available in this little stash.  What do you do with your small solid fabric stash?  For now, it needed organizing and eliminating the fabric that was truly unnecessary.   Pulling it all off the shelves and sorting by color was the first task. The...

Shop Talk: Fabric Nook

Continuing with our Fabric Nook organizational process, we wanted to bring you some more photos and a few more details as we worked through additional fabric and notions. There were still a few kits to sort through, fabric bundles, yardage and bags of various scraps.  Kits were designated as either still worthy to keep or pass along and the bundles, yardage and scraps were sorted into two areas:  Subcut or Keep As Is (for future borders, backing, binding etc.) Stacked bins on the left are mostly filled with large scraps to be subcut.  Fabric in the large pale pink baskets were also...
